Vintage 1998 Mambo Australia "Shift For Brains" Art Tee
US$103.13 - sold
Switching gears and shifting thoughts with pure late-90s Australian satire.
This is the original 1998 "Shift For Brains" graphic tee by Mambo Graphics (© Mambo Graphics P/L 1998). The genius visual gag was illustrated by renowned artist Matthew Martin (signed with his signature m.m on the jacket cuff).
A quintessential example of Mambo’s cheeky Australian wordplay, the graphic takes the classic insult "shit for brains" and turns it literal: a smiling bald guy with an actual manual 5-speed transmission gear shift stick embedded directly into his skull!
The front displays the classic red-and-cream retro Mambo script logo, while the back delivers this full-color comedic pop-art masterpiece over a gorgeously faded vintage indigo navy heavyweight blank.
Peak 90s surf/skate streetwear humor at its finest.
