Vintage 1998 Mambo "Amphibious Sedan / EK Holden" Tee
US$121.88 - sold
Bending the laws of biology and automotive history with this absolute 90s classic.
This is the legendary "Amphibious Sedan" tee by Mambo Graphics, released in 1998. The genius behind this surreal graphic is none other than the master of Aussie counter-culture art, Reg Mombassa (signed Reg M near the right flying fish).
The illustration depicts a classic 1961 yellow EK Holden car emerging from the sea like a prehistoric creature, framed by eucalyptus trees with a koala and a possum looking on.
The text at the bottom says it all: "After a billion years of random mutations the EK holden emerged from the Southern ocean perfectly adapted to survive as a land-based vehicle."
An iconic piece of 90s "Australiana" that captures Mambo’s trademark blend of suburban nostalgia and surreal satire.
